What a turnout we had at the 3rd Boston QSP event!

Dr. Smith presenting

The venue was packed by the time our first speaker, Brian P. Smith, PhD, Global Group Head Statistical Sciences, Novartis, was ready for his presentation. He talked about the tremendous effect that choosing the right underlying statistical distribution can have on sample size required for clinical studies (his presentation here).

Dr. Tsamandouras presenting. Dr. Shrestha thanking

Second speaker, Nikolaos Tsamandouras, PhD, Research Associate, Biological Engineering, MIT, provided great cases for appropriate choice of simpler model versus physiology based systems model (his presentation here). Guests had great Q & A sessions with both the presenters.

Our guests also enjoyed the reception afterwards at Venture Cafe. The ambience, lively interactions among guests, food, beverages, and music were fantastic.

This event was a huge success because of everyone’s active participation. We thank our guest speakers for stimulating presentations, guest attendees for their enthusiastic participation, and Novartis for their generous support for food & drinks. We thank our photographer, Michael Acovio, for capturing some great moments.

We are busy preparing for our next event. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, March 22nd! It is going to be yet another great night of learning and getting to know your fellow members of the Boston QSP community.
