Due to impending inclement weather, the event has been postponed to Monday April 2nd, 2018.

Boston- Please join us on Monday, April 2nd, 2018 for an evening of sharing, learning, and socializing with fellow Boston QSP community members at the Boston QSP March event.

The event will feature a presentation titled "Engineering Improved TB Therapies" by our distinguished speaker Dr. Bree Aldridge. It will be followed by a mixer and reception where you can enjoy great company and conversation with fellow community members over selected craft beers and food from a local small business.

Registration is free but RSVP is required. The event is sponsored by AstraZeneca.

Agenda

5:30-6:15 PM: Presentation and Q&A. Presentation title: Engineering Improved TB Therapies (Havana Room)

6:15-7:30 PM: Mixer & Reception (Venture Café, a few steps down the hallway from the Havana room)

Venue: Cambridge Innovation Center, 1 Broadway, Cambridge.

RSVP here. Limited seats.

* Please do not hesitate to RSVP on the waiting list if the RSVP is full as some guests "un-RSVP" as the event gets closer.

Speaker Detail:

Dr. Aldridge is an engineer and a biologist who specializes in combining live-cell microscopy and mathematical modeling to create intuitive descriptions of complex cell biology. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular Biology and Microbiology and Department of Biomedical Engineering at Tufts University. Dr. Aldridge is also an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow and the recipient of an NIH Director's New Innovator Award.

In this talk, Dr. Aldridge will describe how her team use data-driven approaches and an engineering perspective to improving therapies against Mycobacterium tuberculosis (TB) infection, a disease that kills more than 1.5 million worldwide per year. In addition, her lab has recently developed a quantitative framework to efficiently measure, analyze, and predict pairwise and high-order drug interactions, allowing for prioritized combinations. The novel method, called DiaMOND (diagonal measurement of n-way drug interactions), is based on efficient sampling of combination ‘checkerboards’ and is generalizable other disease models.
